JUSTICE COATING INSPECTION & CONSULTING LLC - STANDARD PROCEDURE CHECK LIST

  • PRE-SURFACE PREPARATION

In pre-surface preparation, surfaces to be prepared will be inspected to assure oil, grease, sharp edges and

rough patches from welds are removed.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS & DATA LOGGING

Dew points, relative humidity, as well as air and surface temperatures are monitored, documented and

recorded to assure that work is performed under the proper weather and environmental conditions.

  • COMPRESSED AIR CLEANLINESS

Operations requiring blasting, conventional spray application, and air for blow down are check to assure that

air is free of moisure and oil contamination prior to application.

  • SURFACE PREPARATION

In surface preparation, abrasive equipment used is examined for adequacy to do the work.  We inspect and

verify the sizing of the abrasives and that they are properly stored in accordance to specified standards.

Recycled abrasives are tested for contamination, proper degree of cleaning; surface profile is confirmed and

magnetic base readings are obtained.  Areas of inadequate or insufficient surface preparation are marked for

repair and rework prior to the applicaton of coatings.

  • PRODUCT MIXING

Mixing of product is observed to document that the specified material is used and that multiple

components are used within allowable pot and shelf lives.  Every batch and lot number is documented

    for tracking purposes.

  • CONFORMATION OF PROPER PRODUCT APPLICABILITY

Product application equipment is examined for cleanliness and adequacy to preform the work. Application

techniques are observed and documented to ensure that coverage is obtained without detrimental runs,

pinholes, sags, or other deficiences.  Film thickness readings are taken to ensure correct amount of material

    is used.

  • WET/DRY FILM THICKNESS

Film thickness of individual coats is measured and documented to ensure the product complies with the

specification requirements and manufacturer's instructions.  Spot wet film thickness readings are taken to

ensure that the correct amount of product/material is used and all dry film thickness surveys are measured

in accordance with SSPC-P A2 Standards.

  • INTERCOAT CLEANLINESS

Between each coat and application, the integrity and cleanliness is examined.  This includes determination

that the surfaces are free from oil, grease, dry spray, over spray, and/or other detrmental contamination.

  • RECOAT TIMES

Timing between each coat and application can be critical for certain products and materials.  The minimum

and maximum recoat times are observed and recorded.  Required conditioning agents or roughening between

the coating applications will be also be observed and verified they have been accomplished prior to recoat.

  •  HOLIDAY TESTING

Following the adequate curing time of applied material, holiday testing is performed to assure coverage is

continuous and free from voids, pinholes, and other dificiences.

  • FINAL INSPECTION

During Final Inspection, the entire coating system is examined until a quality product has been achieved.

Finals inspections involve visual appearance, cure assessment, and holiday detection.

  •  DOCUMENTATION

Detailed Daily Reports will be included in a PDF file with digital photographs and electronically mailed to the

Project Engineer or Proprietor on a daily basis to keep them informed of daily progress. The general progress

of the initial field work will be thoroughly documented in Daily Inspection Reports will will include a record of

the quality control items listed in Justice Coating Inspection & Consulting LLC's general procedure checklist.

Upon completion of project, a formal report will accompany all the daily detailed reports.

This FINAL REPORT will summarize the work performed on the Coating Application Project.
